What is an Internet Society Chapter?
An Internet Society Chapter brings together individual members of the Internet Society who share an interest and belief in the Internet Society’s principles and mission and who are committed to furthering the Internet Society’s goals and objectives within your geographic or special interest area.
These Chapters form a community that takes on a variety of programmes and activities, depending on the interest and capacity of the organization. These programmes and activities may include one or more of the following:
Educational events to inform members or the general public about both non-technical and technical Internet related-issues such as security (identity and transactional), broadband access, IPV6, child safety, network neutrality, or many others.
Community programmes designed to ensure Internet access for economically disadvantaged individuals or those with disabilities. These programmes might address hardware, software, distribution, best practices.
Public policy programmes developed to inform policy and decision makers about Internet issues such as net neutrality, copyright protection, censorship, or human rights.
Networking events which help members connect with those in their area who share their passion for the Internet Society's mission to bring the benefits of the Internet to everyone.
